Gourd Art Timeline

TIMELINE - Gourd Art Business

Back History -- I was born in 1954.  Lived in Bernardsville, NJ.  My dad loved to garden and, actually, we had a huge one in order to supply vegetables to the family of 7.  All 5 boys helped Dad in the garden.  I discovered gourds and built an arbor at the back end of our garden.  By age of 10, I was planting gourds and all through school experimented with them and then crafted them into whales, birds, and birdhouses.

Current History -- Married and moved back to B'ville, I did lots of gardening.  Somehow, I got nostalgic and started gourds again.

April 23, 2008 -- I completed building a pergola (double arbor) in our yard.
Nov. 9, 2009 -- I finished building a mailbox pole out of gourds.
Aug. 13, 2012 -- I sent photos of my gourds growing on my pergola via my cell phone to my long time friend Joe.
Oct. 13, 2012 -- My artist friend, Brian, asked about size and shape of gourds.  I sent him photos of the gourds I buy from an Amish farm.
Nov. 13, 2012 -- Right after hurricane Sandy, I got inspired and worked in the basement on gourds like crazy.  Came up with a wide variety of approaches.  Sent pics to Joe.
Nov. 13, 2012 -- Discovered ETSY website by chance.  Created my own site!
Nov. 25, 2012 -- Some from an arts & crafts shop in Stroudsburg, PA (Pump Shak) saw my ETSY postings and wanted me to bring gourds for consignment at their shop.
May 2, 2013 -- Sent Hilary of ArtSEE a note saying that Joan and I went to the Bound Brook Public Library to see the ArtSEE public exhibit that included two of my gourds.
